Hardware checks that need no download
Before a video call, after buying a new monitor or when a laptop starts acting strangely, a quick test answers the question: is it working? These tests use features built into modern browsers. The FPS test times every animation frame to estimate your display's refresh rate. The CPU stress test runs maths in Web Workers on as many cores as you choose. The keyboard and mouse testers listen to key and pointer events, and the microphone and webcam tests ask for permission only when you press Start and never upload audio or video.
The internet speed test is honest about its limits: it downloads files from this site's own content-delivery network instead of a third-party speed server, so results are approximate but private. Every page explains what it measures, how to read the numbers and how to fix common problems.
